Improvised Movements

In Uncategorized on March 30, 2010 at 5:44 am

Technique is definitely an important aspect of dance, however if one is not connected to an internal force that drives their movements… the dance is “lifeless”. Try closing your eyes and going into yourself to conjour up an emotion, or feeling that inspires your body to move in whatever way it wants to. Allow your body to move and flow with the feeling.

It helps to play music that creates emotion in you. Weather it be the words or the instruments that inspire you, choose music that “speaks” to you. Let your body be the living image of the music.

I have posted a short clip of an improvised piece that I was doing in my room one “inspired” afternoon a few months back.

The song is entitled “rooftops” by local artist “David Simmard”

Enjoy!

Mastering Eye Contact!

In Uncategorized on March 29, 2010 at 2:53 am

Eye contact during a sensual dance is very important!  It is probably the most sensual part of the dance, yet for many… it can be the most challenging.  The trick is to clear your mind of any negative programming you may have while engaging in eye contact.  Fill your mind with positive, loving thoughts about yourself.  Thoughts that make YOU feel expansive, sexy and confident!

Try Part 1 of this “Mastering Eye Contact” exercise:

Position yourself in front of a mirror and practice looking into your own eyes.  What are they telling you about how you feel inside?  Take notice of your inner emotions and how your face and eyes convey what you feel.  Practice walking up to the mirror and then away from it.  Continue to look into your own eyes and notice what you are feeling about viewing your own reflection.  Don’t include music yet as it is in the silence that you will hear your own voice.  Maintain eye contact with yourself in the mirror, think positive thoughts and train your inner voice to articulate positive feelings.  Keep a positive message or movie rolling in your head to alter your intrinsic energy and project a new positivity to the world.

If  you need help to get started, say “I am beautiful, I am sexy,” and repeat it over and over until you begin to see and believe it.  Find something about yourself that you like.  Your hair, skin, eyes, lips, nose, personality.  Focus on what you like, not dislike.  For most of us, this is a most emotionally challenging exercise.  Keep at it, practice, begin to re-invent your relationship with yourself.  Once you see the beautiful, sexy woman inside, you will develop confidence in yourself that you can share and stop looking for outside approval of your beauty and sex appeal.  You can define this for yourself.

Good posture is SEXY!

In Uncategorized on March 28, 2010 at 10:46 pm

Having proper posture is not only excellent for your health, it also exudes confidence! A person who is confident and knows how to carry themselves,  is extremely sexy… and very interesting to watch.  This is precisely why I encourage proper body alignment in my classes.

A simple gesture such as stretching your arms, as if tired from a long night of wild sex with your lover… or bending over to adjust your garter onto your killer fish-net thigh high stockings… looks so much more attractive when the body is in perfect alignment…. accentuating all the right curves, and creating beautifully exquisite lines that make YOU look and feel your absolute BEST!

With a method of education and therapy called Ideokenesis, I show you exactly how to hold your body in order to achieve perfect body alignment.  Ideokenesis is based on imagery and imagination, therefore the work requires one to be completely still, with no movement whatsoever!

Eventually the intelligence acquired will be applied to the way you hold and handle yourself.
