Most traditional tampons are made out of chlorine bleached cotton, and include a synthetic fiber, viscose rayon, to improve absorbency. Also, If they’re not organic, you can bet the cotton being used has been doused heavily with pesticides and insecticides while grown.
The cotton is then BLEACHED! A group of toxic chemical compounds (dioxins) created by the chlorine bleaching process, are found in conventional tampons. Dioxins accumulate in our bodies and build up over time. They have been shown to cause cancer and other health problems.
By the way… viscose rayon is a synthetic fiber used in traditional tampons to improve absorbency as I mentioned above. It’s also been linked to increased cases of TSS (toxic Shock syndrome)
All these scary things can lead to SERIOUS heath issues!
BUT, there IS an alternative… THANK the GODS and GODDESSES!!!
There are companies that make and sell tampons made of 100% organic cotton and whitened using chlorine-free bleaches!
A MUCH healthier choice for our precious Yoni’s!
Using ALL organic tampons ensures that your body will not absorb the harmful chemical residues found in conventional tampons.
You can find organic tampons at natural food stores and supermarkets. They are also starting to bring them into most mainstream groceries store too!
Here are some brands you can look for; Natracare, Seventh Generation, and Organic Essentials. Just like conventional tampons, they are offered in several absorbencies, usually without an applicator.
I personally use Natracare. Overall, organic products are a little more pricier… BUT WELL WORTH IT!
Your Yoni is a sacred temple, and should not be coming into contact with harmful chemicals.
ANOTHER THING THAT YOU CAN DO
Another practice that is very healthy and UBER liberating is allowing your blood to flow freely without any tampon or “blood holding” product.
I like to wear a long skirt or dress and just let my blood flow, you may need cloths or rags to wipe up excess drips, depending on how heavy you are. Feeling your blood between your legs and allowing it to flow freely with full awareness is a beautiful way to connect with yourself and your sacred Yoni.
LOVE YOUR YONI!
